About the role:

Job Title: Head of Department for Science

Responsible to:  Head Teacher

Grade:  Qualified (MPS / UPS)

Location:   Endeavour Academy Bexley

Job Summary:

  • To lead the Science Department and coordinate all schemes of work, assessments and accreditation delivered in relation to the subject area
  • To take responsibility as a middle leader for the quality of teaching and learning within Endeavour Academy and coach staff within the department to deliver lessons which support all pupils to make good or better progress
  • To analyse data in relation to learning and behavior and use this to inform planning and targeting of interventions to close the gap for vulnerable learners. In addition, to take responsibility for planning and teaching up to GCSE equivalent level
  • To develop individualised plans for pupils as well as liaise with colleagues re: baseline assessments and schemes of work
  • To lead the development of curriculum innovations and contribute to behaviour management strategies, accreditation, policies and procedures within the school, as well as delivering the specific subject area(s)
  • Maintaining professional boundaries at all times and observing / upholding the values and ethos of Endeavour Academy whilst contributing to the overall vision of London South East Academy Trust.
