About the role:

Manor Mead School is seeking a caring, reliable and proactive School Meals Supervisory Assistant to join our team.

This is an important role supporting pupils during lunchtime and playtime, helping to ensure a safe, calm and positive environment for all children.

The role

Working under the direction of school staff, you will support pupils before, during and after lunch, and during playtimes. Duties will include:

  • Preparing classrooms and dining areas ahead of lunch

  • Supporting pupils to collect meals and assisting with feeding where required

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, social interaction and appropriate eating skills

  • Cleaning tables, equipment and personal items after lunch

  • Supporting pupils with toileting, hygiene and changing where necessary

  • Supervising children during playtime, encouraging inclusive play and ensuring safety

  • Dealing with minor first aid and completing accident or behaviour records when required

You will work closely with teaching and support staff and will be expected to follow individual pupil guidance, including Learning and Communication Passports and playground behaviour guidelines.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children, ideally including pupils with learning difficulties or challenging behaviour

  • Is tolerant, discreet and able to work calmly and confidently

  • Can act on their own initiative while working as part of a team

  • Communicates effectively with pupils and staff

  • Is physically fit and able to lift and move furniture or equipment

  • Is committed to maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards

A First Aid qualification is desirable but not essential.
