Bramley Grange Academy is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Outdoor Learning Mentor to join our committed and nurturing team. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils through innovative, nature-based learning experiences that promote engagement, wellbeing, and personal development. The Outdoor Learning Mentor will play a key role in delivering high-quality outdoor education programmes tailored to meet the diverse needs of our pupils. You will use the outdoor environment to support learning, build resilience, and develop social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for working outdoors throughout the year, supporting young people to engage in learning beyond the classroom.
  • Support the Outdoor Lead in planning and delivering outdoor activities, assisting young people to participate confidently and safely.
  • Provide cover in the absence of the Outdoor Lead, ensuring continuity of provision.
  • Support students across the school who may struggle to engage in learning, encouraging participation and promoting high expectations for behaviour.
  • Maintain order, promote a calm environment, and provide a consistent and visible staff presence.
  • Deliver personalised, time-limited intervention programmes to address barriers to learning and improve engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and colleagues to manage behaviour and encourage positive decision-making in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
  • Develop and implement strategies that build pupils’ resilience and support them in overcoming challenges and personal difficulties.
  • Contribute to a whole-school restorative and solution-focused approach, supporting pupils to reflect on their behaviour and develop effective self-management strategies.
  • Accurately record behaviour and achievement data using agreed systems.
  • Attend daily briefings, debriefings, staff meetings, and training sessions as directed by the Head Teacher.
  • Create engaging and stimulating learning environments that broaden pupils’ experiences and develop new skills.
  • Undertake supervision during unstructured times in line with the school’s team ethos.
  • Follow procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and apply learning to practice.
  • Adhere to all school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, as directed by the Head Teacher.
Please note: We reserve the right to appoint a suitable candidate before the closing date, therefore early applications are encouraged.

About Us

About Us

I am delighted to welcome you to Bramley Grange Academy and to introduce myself as the Headteacher. This is an exciting time for our school as we embark on a period of positive change as part of London South East Academies Trust. Together, we are committed to ensuring that every young person here feels valued and supported – and can achieve their full potential.

We are passionate about high quality teaching and learning, creating opportunities that inspire and engage. We offer a diverse curriculum that allows our pupils to discover their talents, achieve meaningful qualifications, and develop the skills they need for a successful future.

About the Trust

London South East Academies Trust is a growing and ambitious Multi-Academy Trust, currently comprising mainstream, special and alternative provision academies, alongside an outreach service and a music hub. Our schools are located across Bromley, Bexley, Sussex, Lambeth and Surrey, serving a wide range of communities and educational contexts.

Across the Trust, our schools share a strong commitment to raising attainment, encouraging aspiration and supporting social mobility for every pupil, throughout their educational journey and beyond. We take a holistic but personalised approach to education, recognising that children thrive when their individual strengths, needs and circumstances are properly understood and supported. This enables pupils to flourish and achieve their full potential, whatever their starting point.

We believe that great schools are built by great people. As a Trust, we invest in our staff through strong professional development and leadership opportunities, clear expectations and supportive structures. We actively encourage collaboration and the sharing of best practice across schools, supported by high-quality, cost-effective central services that allow leaders and teachers to focus on what matters most: improving outcomes for pupils.

London South East Academies Trust sits within the Elevare Civic Education Group, which also includes a multi-campus further and higher education college, London South East Colleges and a charitable foundation, Elevare Education Foundation. This unique structure provides meaningful progression pathways for pupils and families, as well as broad development and career opportunities for staff across the wider Group.

Our teams are united by a shared belief in the power of education to change lives. By continuing to grow our Trust and welcoming new expertise and perspectives, we aim to strengthen our schools further and extend the positive impact we have on our communities.
